چکیده

Introduction: Meteorin-like (Metrnl), also known as subfatin is a newly discovered adipokine of adipocyte origin that may play role in obesity and insulin resistance. The current study aimed to investigate the association between biochemical values, demographic characteristics, resistance obese patients healthy controls. Methods: This cross-sectional included 59 with sex age-matched group 41 controls. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used measure serum levels Subfatin correlations Metrnl level anthropometric parameters, HOMA index, measurements were assessed. Results: BMI (p<0.001), (p=0.002), HOMA-IR score (p<0.001) significantly higher than found be lower (1.85 [1.35–5.51] ng/ml) compared controls (21.82 [12.61–27.76] (p<0.001). had negative relationship age (r =-0.250, p=0.012), weight =-0.373, p=0.001), =-0.492, HbA1c =-0.209, p=0.037), LDL =-0.264, p=0.008), =-0.223, p=0.026), glucose =-0.376, p<0.001). There positive correlation height (r=0.321, p=0.001).Conclusion: These results show decreased patients. circulating amounts hormone age, weight, height, LDL-cholesterol, glucose, hbA1c, HOMA-IR. might new biomarker resistance. Keywords: Meteorin-like/subfatin, adiposity, resistance, adipokines, biomarkers, diabetes mellitus type 2

High Serum Ferritin Concentrations in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Is Not Related to Insulin Resistance

OBJECTIVE: Some data are available on the association between components of the insulin resistance syndrome and serum ferritin. Insulin resistance is observed in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) We hypothesize that body iron stores might be increased in these women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two hundred and six people (103 PCOS patients and 103 healthy women who were matched for a...

S100B Serum Levels in Schizophrenia Are Presumably Related to Visceral Obesity and Insulin Resistance

Elevated blood levels of S100B in schizophrenia have so far been mainly attributed to glial pathology, as S100B is produced by astro- and oligodendroglial cells and is thought to act as a neurotrophic factor with effects on synaptogenesis, dopaminergic and glutamatergic neutrotransmission. However, adipocytes are another important source of S100B since the concentration of S100B in adipose tiss...

Maternal Serum Meteorin Levels and the Risk of Preeclampsia

BACKGROUND Meteorin (METRN) is a recently described neutrophic factor with angiogenic properties. This is a nested case-control study in a longitudinal cohort study that describes the serum profile of METRN during different periods of gestation in healthy and preeclamptic pregnant women. Moreover, we explore the possible application of METRN as a biomarker. METHODS AND FINDINGS Serum METRN wa...

O-3: Obesity, Insulin Resistance and Their Correlation with Testosterone Levels in Male Patients

Background: Obesity and insulin resistance refer to a clustering of various medical conditions, with a number of pathological components that contribute to the development of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Some studies have shown that free testosterone levels are low in obese men and are inversely correlated with the degree of obesity. In addition, leptin levels increases with obesity tha...
